LiuGong Equipment Powers the World's Largest Hybrid Pumped-Storage Station

Key Points
- World's largest hybrid pumped-storage project
- 855N loaders and multiple excavators at work
- Built on 3,000 m western Sichuan plateau
On the western Sichuan plateau at 3,000 metres, cold wind carries grit as builders of the Lianghekou pumped-storage station contend with harsh conditions, from altitude effects to complex geology. The stable operation of LiuGong equipment has built the foundation for the project's key milestones.
Since construction began, LiuGong machines have taken an active part. Two 855N face-shovel loaders support the crushing plant, two 855N side-dump loaders serve tunnel construction and muck removal, and 9075F, 906F, 920F, 926F and 939F excavators have worked across earthworks and foundations, with more equipment to follow.
From Baihetan and Xiluodu to Lianghekou, LiuGong has long served water and hydropower construction with tailored solutions, developing efficient, reliable, intelligent machines covering earthworks, rock-fill dams and diversion tunnels, with strong performance, durability and intelligent control that raise efficiency and safeguard safety and quality.
The Lianghekou station is the world's largest hybrid pumped-storage project, using Sichuan's largest reservoir as the upper reservoir and the Yagen I reservoir as the lower, giving it both natural-runoff generation and pumped-storage regulation. The area is now a clean-energy demonstration zone that already includes the world's largest hydro-solar complementary project and the world's highest earth-rock dam station.
LiuGong will continue to use equipment and technology on the western Sichuan plateau to support the dual-carbon goals and contribute machinery power to global clean-energy construction.
