First Pile Driven for Latin America's Longest Sea-Crossing Bridge, Supported by LiuGong

Key Points
- 46.8 km link in Bahia, Brazil
- Latin America's longest sea-crossing bridge
- SD25A rotary rig drove the first pile
Watched by all, a Shanghai Jintai SD25A rotary drilling rig stood on site and successfully drove the project's first test pile, a standout piece of Chinese equipment in the super project.
A Latin American benchmark
The Salvador sea-crossing bridge is one of Brazil's largest infrastructure projects. Crossing the Bay of All Saints in Bahia, it connects the state capital, Salvador, with Itaparica Island to the west, with a total length of 46.8 km, including 12.4 km of six-lane sea bridge, 4.2 km of approach roads and 30.2 km of roads on Itaparica. When complete it will be Latin America's longest sea-crossing bridge, transforming regional logistics, strengthening connectivity and drawing new investment in tourism, industry, commerce and logistics.
A super project tests heavy equipment
Bay construction features complex geology and strict pile standards, demanding high stability, power and intelligence. The SD25A is tailored for complex conditions, with ample power and precise control for soft ground and mixed strata, intelligently matching drilling parameters for stable drilling and excellent pile quality. Its platform is developed by LiuGong, drawing on decades of experience to work reliably in overseas environments.
From major domestic infrastructure to overseas benchmarks, LiuGong and Shanghai Jintai continue to ground their work in technology and strict quality, providing reliable, efficient piling equipment and solutions for global construction.
